The Hollywood
Zen Center is a
place where Zen Buddhist meditation is practiced in the heart of
the Hollywood/Beverly Hills area in Los Angeles. HZC offers Rinzai
Zen guided by Kigen Ekeson, Osho.
Kigen Ekeson is an ordained
teacher ("Osho") of Joshu
Sazaki Roshi, a 100-year-old Zen master who has been practicing
traditional Rinzai Zen for eighty-six years. Since coming to the
United States in 1962, Sazaki Roshi has ordained only 25 of his
students to become teachers. These teachers have spread throughout
the world.
Kigen Osho is one of
these teachers and has settled in the Los Angeles area to teach.
He is the abbot of HZC and is heading up the progress of the center.
He leads all of the meditation
periods, delivers Dharma talks and leads discussions, and is available
to students for guidance as they pursue Zen practice.
What is Zen?
Zen practice uses meditaiton as a method to realize the
true nature of the self. To learn more about Rinzai Zen practice
and Kigen's teaching style, see his talks:

The Hollywood
Zen Center is gratefully accepting donations.
Formally incorporated as a nonprofit (501c3) corporation in 2004,
HZC is still in its formative stages. Having met our first goal
of becoming incorporated, our current goal is to find a location
that allows for a dedicated practice space. Please contribute to
this goal if you can.
If you cannot contribute
to such a major goal, please support the Zen center by contributing
towards incense and candles, which need to be replenished on a regular
basis.
